Acute Injuries:
Acute Injuries are sudden, sharp, traumatic injuries that occur immediately causing pain. Often, acute injuries result from impact or trauma as a fall, sprain or collision. With having acute injuries pain, tenderness, redness skin warm to the touch, swelling and inflammation are common signs and symptoms of such an impact or trauma injury.
Treatment:
The best treatment to use is ice or using a flax seed filled cold pack to reduce swelling and pain. The cold of the flax seed filled cold pack causes the blood vessels to narrow and limits bleeding to the injured area. Flax seed filled cold packs are helpful to treat overuse or running and should ice the injured area after running to reduce and prevent inflammation. It's not helpful to ice a chronic injury or injured area before exercising.
